Home

We have a unique AT HOME approach to care. This is an acronym.

Acknowledged.
Each member of the Shalom Village family is acknowledged by others and the organization as an individual, able to make choices and contributions; is regarded with respect, treated with dignity, respected for their beliefs and values as an integral part of the life of Shalom Village.

Together
Each member of the Shalom Village Family can trust that the care and services of Shalom Village will be planned, evaluated and delivered by a transdisciplinary team in a collaborative manner, inclusive of our commjnity and internal partners in a manner that meets our established standards and reflects current professional and legislated regulations, research and established best practices.

Home
Each member of the Shalom Village family will contribute to ensuring that our home reflects the values, appearance and feeling of home and reflect the components of home that have been collaboratively determined to be priorities - privacy, comfort, fun, safety, no odours, trust, love.

Organization
Shalom Village's care and services, operations, decisions and strategic planning will be consistent with each of the AT HOME standards. Our Village will grow in directions that provide the care and services that our residents, staff and families state are priorities.

Memories
Each member of the Shalom Village family will have the opportunity to share in the creation and enjoyment of memorable events, enjoy, be helped to resolve and reflect upon their own memories and to partake in familiar family, personal, culinary, spiritual and celebratory events.

Enablement
Each member of the Shalom Village family will be provided the opportunity and encouragement to maximize their independence (both physical and psychological) to receive health care focused on meeting their individual needs and comfort, to achieve individual goals, to express their individuality and creativity and to contribute to their home and their community in ways that are meaningful to them.

This all links back to volunteers because volunteers are a big part of assisting and carrying out this AT HOME approach to care
