Youth Program |

Intergeneration is a very important part of brightening up the atomosphere of the nursing home. Young people bring a new, energetic kind of light to the place. They have the time and patience to connect and communicate with the senior citizens. Shalom Village is a great place for high school students to complete their 40 hours in. Of course, after you've completed the 40 hours, we still welcome you to come back and keep volunteering! It is enjoyable, and we offer many youth programs that you can come in aofter school for or on the weekend. If you are looking for something to do during the summer, there are programs that run throughout the summer, like the garden lunch where you come in a couple times a week and sit with the residents outside in the courtyard while they have their lunch. We have supper club, and of course, friendly visits. You will be matched up with volunteer jobs according to your character and talents. If you are musically talented, you can entertain the residents by playing the piano, or help out with the choir. Also, if you are interested in culture and religion, Shgalom is a great place for you to learn about the Jewish religion and culture. Go to the "How to become a volunteer" and "Contact Information" page for more information on applying. |
